The EBEC (European Best Engineering Competition) project is a competition at European level in which technology students put their knowledge, creativity and teamwork skills to the test to solve a proposed problem.
In this competition, we find two categories: Team Design and Case Study.
In Team Design, participants must build a real prototype with given specifications and a limited material provided for it. In the end, the prototype will have to fulfill a series of characteristics and pass a series of tests. The evaluation takes into account originality, realism, functionality, materials used, cost, etc.
A Case Study consists of theoretically solving a typical problem of a real company, whether technological, logistical, environmental, etc. in the most effective way possible after a few hours of work. The feasibility and development of the idea, as well as originality and innovation, will be evaluated. All the solutions of the different teams will be presented before a jury that will be the one who decides which team is the winner.
The competition consists of two phases (local and national), where the winners of each phase go directly to the next round.
They are held in 6 Spanish universities and each one is organized by the local group of the participating university.
The winners of the different local rounds will compete among them. To win, they will have to use a balanced combination of skills: teamwork, negotiation, strategic planning, sustainable project management.
More than 6000 students will participate in different national phases throughout Europe, where they will have the opportunity to develop transversal skills in the cultural field, communication, presentation, teamwork or improving English, and establishing links with other students from different backgrounds or fields of studies. A training beyond what was learned in the classroom through a unique opportunity.
In this event, apart from all the necessary facilities to carry out the competition, the participants will enjoy various socio-cultural activities through which we intend that the experience be enriching in more aspects.
EBEC Madrid Carlos III
Once again, the Carlos III University of Madrid is one of the 83 local rounds participating in the pyramid of the EBEC project. In this way and for the tenth consecutive year, students of all the Leganés campus races will compete in the month of November in one of the two categories: Team Design or Case Study.
The EBEC Madrid Carlos III will take place in the Leganés Campus (Superior Polytechnic School) in three days: one day dedicated to Team Design, another for Case Study and, on the last day, the winners will be announced at the closing ceremony.
The winning teams of both phases will pass to the second phase of the competition: the EBEC Spain (national phase of the competition) with all expenses paid (transport, accommodation, food …).
